Improving People Centered Good Governance
CWS provides facilitation support to elected representatives and functional committees in preparing
Gram Panchayat Development Plans in 31 villages of 8 Gram Panchayats in Sheohar district and Siwan
District covering 9220 households through implementing partners Gaon Vikas Munch (GVM) and
Sakhiree Mahila Vikas Sansthan (SMVS).
Networks for Empowering Dalits and Women
Two networks Dalit Adhikar Manch (DAM) and Bihar Women’s Network (BWN) are supported by CWS
to assert their rights and access justice and entitlements. The objective of the networks is to strategize
lobbying and advocacy process through creation of strong network alliance. BWN has developed good
linkage with police department and judiciary for supporting victims of domestic violence. DAM is
member of Bihar State land reform Committee.
These networks reach out to 56872 marginalized house hold in 1598 villages across 100 blocks and 28
districts of Bihar.
Improving Sustainable Livelihood and Food Security for Adivasi Community
Sustainable agricultural practices are promoted that include Sustainable Rice Intensification (SRI) and
Sustainable Crop Intensification (SCI) methods. Market linkage have also been improved, About 600
farmer families of 15 villages are reached through implementing partners Lok Vikas Sansthan in Chakai
block of Jamui district.
Promotion of Education of Children among the Minority and Dalit Communities
CWS works to enhance education and overall development among dropouts in minority adolescent girls
in Patna district through implementing partner-IZAD, Patna. The objective of the project is to generate
awareness about necessity of education within the minority community and ensure accessibility to
education by maximum number of children of the area. A total of 500 households are involved in the
activity. Similarly, CWS promotes education of the dalit children among 851 families of 5 villages in
Nawada district through implementing partner Mahila Udhyog Kendra (MUK).
Promoting Women’s Political Leadership and Governance
CWS works to enhance Elected Women Representatives (EWR) participation in decision making process
in panchyati Raj and develop individual identity. The objective is to create a better understanding of
rights and duties of elected representatives as a political leader and strengthen their role in local self-
governance and work towards gender mainstreaming. The initiative is implemented in 3 villages of
Bidupur block in Vaishali district through partner Equity Foundation, Patna.
Socio-Economic Development of the Adivasi Community
The objective to improve awareness levels of adivasis about exercising their forest rights for their own
benefits as well supporting forest conservation. The focus is also to sustain livelihoods of the community
members by helping them in their agricultural activites (through promoting mushroom cultivation). CWS
works with 1779 farmer families from from 9 villages in Jhajha Block of Jamui district through
implementing partner Samagra Seva.
